Wendell J. Harris, Inc, has the professional expertise to help children facing difficulties in our schools in Milwaukee, WI. Wendell Harris, the Executive Director, has worked through his peer specialist work in and with our public schools for nearly many years. He chairs the Wisconsin NAACP Education Committee, which helps ensure that all children are provided the best possible chance of receiving a quality public education. In addition, he served on the MPS Task Force of Youth Safety and Anti-Violence, where he previously chaired the Mental Health and Wellness sub-committee.

    Wendell J. Harris served at Community High School, DIAL High School, and Transition High School. He has implemented the Ambassadors for Peace Project, thus demonstrating that he can and has worked successfully in teacher-led, highly collaborative, and flexible small school environments. The most positive results reported by MPS Community High School and the MPS Transition High School were efforts made to monitor changes in student violence, truancy, suspensions, and expulsions during the implementation of the project. As a result, community High School has shown more than a 31% drop in suspensions and expulsions. 


    Furthermore, the Transitional High School (THS) reports an 83% student average attendance rate compared to 55% before enrolling in THS, and only 18 students have been suspended since 2008. Most significantly, THS has managed to graduate 100 students over the past two years, many of whom had previously given up on any notion of ever receiving a high school diploma.

Mr. Wendell J. Harris has been active in and within MPS for nearly 20 years in various service capacities. Wendell J. Harris, Inc has successfully implemented the "Ambassadors for Peace Project" in at least 3 MPS high schools. Our organization has substantial experience with the MPS District.
